fairy bread, gumby, bangers and mash, cheez tv, mario kart/party/goldeneye 64, don't push me push a push pop, who shot mister burns conspiracy theories, "that's so funny, I forgot to laugh", sizzler, lone star, marbles, mood rings, fairy parties, power rangers, kiss chasey, gladiators and their tazos, mortal kombat, hey dad!, doom, napster, polly pocket, plugger, zoopadoopas, opposite day, forty-forty, cottees ad, good on ya mum tip tops the one, choose your own scare, magic eye 3d pictures in the weekend paper magazine, alex mac and her secret world, genie from down under, round the twist, sprinklers, trampoline cricket, slap bracelets, hey football head!, rugrats, reading harry for the first time, writing letters, world4kids, pizza hut kidsworks, what are we going to do tomorrow- we'll do what we always do and try to take over the world!, doctor dreadful food lab, heads down thumbs up, healthy harold the giraffe and the van, downball, elimination, mercia vs st bernards in footy, dad at geelong and our busses to games, amazing, who dares wins FIFTY DOLLARS.

I grew up in a really fun decade.

Just about to finish my holocaust essay and despite my grumblings and sinking feelings at all thoughts of tutorials/lectures/assignments/dso/readings/anything related to the actual subject I have learned much more than I have in many other history subjects. Particularly as I've always had a distinct interest in ww2, particular the horrors of the holocaust. For some reason I've just always been mindblown at the extent of genocide. Survivor Abel Herzberg was quoted as saying:

"There were not six million Jews murdered; there was one murder, six million times."

Of all the quotes, statistics, facts, figures, horror stories I've read those words had the most impact. Six million individual existences just vanished. One in two european jews completely eliminated. It's incomprehensible, but addictive once you begin to research individual stories. Also the stories of attempts at resistance such as the riots in the warsaw ghetto, the seventy odd escapees from treblinka concentration camp who were able to tell their friends what was going on in the camps, the french village Le Chambon-sur-Lignon who famously hid and saved the lives of five thousand jews, the Danish population refusing to comply with Nazi orders and relocating seven thousand jews to safety in Sweden. Oh there's so many stories, so little time to read them and so difficult to choose the best ones to explain in 3000 words how these people died.

Thanks to uni anyway for forcing me to choose subjects not media related I suppose to broaden my knowledge! Maybe... or maybe provide more journalism/industry related subjects so that I may actually get a media/journalism degree in the fairest way possible.
