boredom killed the cat

One way to kill boredom is to go to Europe. Which my best friends and I will be doing in TWO DAYS. Another way is to get paint going, laugh at yourself, and make use of webcam.

Nervous

Burning down the House & I'm such an Idiot.

Really Bad Paint Job & Need More Concentration

Does my Singing Face Look Like That & That's really awkward

Giddy Goat & Never Been So Excited

I was nervous last week a little, it's only two months but the longest I've been away from family and comfort. I am no longer nervy at all, this will be a time I'll never get back. I just can't wait to get out there and see everything, go on the tour and have fun, see my sister and get a white Christmas, hear all accents, party in Edinburgh with Hot Chip and the Scots, meet new people and roommates in hostels, eat exotic foods, sing Burning Down the House at a karaoke bar SOMEWHERE in Europe, be silly, be a tourist, buy bits and pieces, experience life, not work, have no homework, build an even stronger bond with two girls I adore and will always be in my life. It's going to be the best. Woo!

Tdog Out.

a moment of love, a dream, a laugh

These photos make me very happy!

Bloc Party:
What are you holding out for?
What's always in the way?
Why so damn absent-minded?
Why so scared of romance?
This modern love breaks me
This modern love wastes me

Modern Love walks beside me
Modern Love walks on by
Modern Love gets me to the Church on Time
Church on Time terrifies me
Church on Time makes me party
Church on Time puts my trust in God and Man
God and Man no confessions
God and Man no religion
God and Man don't believe
in Modern Love

Today we completely organised our trip, it's final, it's all happening, six days! I cannot not stop listening to sweet disposition, by the temper trap. It is a beautiful, beautiful song.

The average human body has 12 pairs of ribs.

a day in the life of...

a day in the life of a mute.

This will be a long post, as when I go to talk, nothing comes out. Therefore I am trying to express my thoughts via this blog...

Currently Listening to: Skeleton Tiger- Tame Impala (Now it's The Man Who Sold the World)
Currently Looking at: Home remedies for laryngitis
Currently Conte
mplating: Lunch, shower options, to tread or not to tread, what movie to watch, who to see before I go overseas and who not to bother with, a surprise for our favourite blond best friend, how to put into words (very minimal words) how I am feeling.
Currently Thankful For: my family, friends, this blog to be able to communicate.
This is absolutely
bizarre. For the past 24 hours I have been completely ailed with laryngitis and unable to say ANYTHING. To make matters worse I had a 21st to go, where I had to force random words out every now and then to make a point or answer questions about Europe.

Bless the Internet: http://answe
rs.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081029171322AA5TNOm

Unfortunately most of the remedies come with a "don't speak" on the end. I think it was from a TV show or something where somebody lost their voice, and actually realises how much information comes your way if you can only listen. I listen to people all the time when they're speaking to me, but generally I get so swept up in the conversation that I'm having that my peripheral hearing is nowhere to be found. Last night I found out so many peoples perspectives and opinions, it was very interesting. One of my favourites was listening to conversations of the girls in the toilets (always catty gold!) and wonder who they're talking about, and whether that person has ANY idea in the world that these things are being said. Would they have realised that this is how people felt about them if they had of listened in the first place??

It reminded me of Harriet the Spy, SUCH a good read. In 24 hours I don't have the power over others she had, nor would I want it. Because also having no m
ethod of communication is the most isolating and embarrassing thing in the world, not being able to express your opinions or thoughts or laugh or answer questions. You feel rude, lonely, odd, stand offish and full of thoughts all in one go. It's actually a great practise for me to have to think about what I will say before I say, no more Verbal Vomit for Tess! I think I'm going to attempt to learn sign language, not in a joke way, only because I think it would be a great thing to know how to do.

I've been blessed (or cursed... however you look at it) with the gift of the gab. I keep a lot of thoughts to myself, and my mind never stops, which is probably why I can't sleep ever because I never stop thinking about things. But if I wasn't given the personality that I have where I really do think it's important to express yourself verbally, I would go insane like I am today. You just feel down, you know, when you can't talk about things. Whenever you start up a relationship or a friendship, it's at that point where you can properly talk about stuff, and open up to each other that you know that is a person/connection to work at and pursue. I always think it's really special if somebody I know doesn't open up or talk that much chooses to do so to me, that they've thought of you as a person that they feel comfortable enough to talk to. It's cool.

I am in the process of making playlists for the Rory& Tess radio show, it is so much fun, and this show will go places I tell's ya.

Chloe, Angel & I will head off to Europe in EIGHT DAYS. Oh my. It was nice to be with family friends and people who've known me since I was little last night, as
they were so outspoken about how proud they were of me for actually doing this. Another mini rant in 5. 4. 3. 2. 1.....

This week I've been thinking about how many people I know that will never do this. There are 100 year old people who've NEVER seen the world. I'm proud of the three of for saying we would do it, and actually doing it. They'll talk about doing it, and say that it's cool that we're doing it and that they'll definitely go soon, but won't. For those who just don't get the chance, or don't really want to, then that's just understandable I suppose. But so many people our age spend their money on things like the coolest jeans, shoes and hairstyles, and never use their money to actually experience things that will help them develop as people. Too many people spend TOO much of their time worrying what other people will think of them. They need people to help them to feel better about themselves, and to have gratification from the company of others that they're a good person. So desperate to fit in to a certain mould or certain friendship groups that they will never take the time to be independent and go out and do stupid, funny acts with their best friends and not have a care in the world about not being cool or a total robo-baaabe. It's no good really. However, it does make me realise why the handful of best friends that I have, are indeed my best friends. They're like me, but in the best way because they're not like me at all. They're so individual with different experiences and things that make up who they are, and we all come together and never judge each other, just give advice and hope for the best.

This was Angel's about me for a little while, I saved it to my computer and it makes my day!

If you like singing and dancing loudly along the aisles of the supermarket, making up nicknames, enjoy sandwiches, want to sponser [or even just support] my team for soccer; the sharpies, bop when you walk, cry when you laugh (or spit) and laugh a lot, like drinking wine and eating cookies, enjoy gang sleepovers, dress-ups, speaking with accents, dancing, bended elbow, if you wanna be my lover and will also get with my friends haaa, if you have a ringtone that makes it sound like dracula is heading your way, the zoo, bubba euro trips, driving along and not caring that people are watching you singing, also have two gf's, hear a song that you love and end conversation until the song..and the spontaneous dancing have ceased (or will dance around lights or other inanimate objects), if you have rather large hands, sleep with a teddy as cute as cuddles or whitey or flo-rider, have crushes, have slight insomnia, find personal meanings in every song you listen to..even gay bar, can and will talk to anybody, are a little creepy, have a sexy car or have been in mine! [the boot in the carpark at readings means bonus points], if people think your odd but actually want to join in the gang, drink coffee or wine or the love of my life tea, if you basically live at uni, wear 'devilicious' underwear, and use phrases like "your a hazard" and "story of my life" and the clincher "i walk on the wild side of life" [the last of which ive never used as a pickup line! the other two, however..] i think we could definately be friends!

So if you're out there and think you could be one of us, we will welcome you with open arms people! I love the armstrongs. I need to do something productive, like shower or watch scrubs, or make playlists.

These are two rhymes made for me by my best friends, when I'm down they get me on the mends, if you would like friends like this too, all you have to do... is be YOU!

i have a friend and she loves to go, get down and dirty with the flo, everyone thinks shes got a good voice for radio, shes friendly and fun to boot, hanging with her is such a hoot, we make love and dance, and she always gets in the pants ;), shes devilicious and cool, and she listens to music thats so old-school, i want her now and i want her forever, and she so knows she can have me whenever! there, that should make you see stars ted!

Tess, You make me happy when I am feeling blue, I really don't know what I'd do without you. You know its true, we stick together like glue, you know I'm afraid of the who. You're more than willing to share your bed and "oh my god get out of my head!" You have a smile that brightens up my day, by the way did I mention do like Shea. We have so much fun, we're nowhere near almost done. Soon you will be my room mate, I'll put the dinner on your plate, we'll stay up and chat til really late. I'll bring you flowers and make you coffee, not mention some sticky toffee. You amaze me with your beauty, you must know you're surely a cutie. I am so glad to be your friend, we'll be together until the end!

Stay cool & happy friends, bye for now :)

oh my.

Bloc party last night were incredible- so damn good. So much fun! I knew they'd put on a great show, and it was the best to be there with two of my favourite humans and our new found friends. I've never been so sweaty and hot in my whole life, but it was totally worth it. I was a bit gutted they didn't play so here we are or better than heaven, but they did give silent alarm and weekend in the city a good run plus playing the best of their new stuff, so it was brilliant. Kele is actually the coolest human being, he's just so darn cool. Plus we finished it with oozetoobs, cheese rolls, shea with an apple, an iced water at the pub, doritos, burger rings, a lovely stroll to the train station, a party carriage with the likes of Chloe's boss-boss, an old workmate of mine, Stuart McArthur, Mase and the 7-11 bandit.

This past week has been so much fun, with concerts and parties and hang outs. It's been a great one. Especially now the lovely Tash has lent mum & I her car, it's so much better than being trapped in the house. We ventured into the city yesterday to just avoid being at home, I bought fake mustaches and a three-pack of socks. I am out of control!

This afternoon I have to work, which is a good thing, then I have Shea's going away drinks in Heads which I will head to with my lovely lady friends, working all day tomorrow from 8am until 5:30 (killer), a 1920s themed 21st tomorrow night which I may wear a fake-mo and go as Charlie Chaplin but I may not. Sunday maybe a partaay, and a family dinner as per usual, Monday night catching up with my lovely cousin after work, Tuesday finalising all of our trip and shopping for presents, Wednesday work, Thursday SHARPIES extravaganza, at some point dinner date with Sio and the ladies in red.

It's going to be a good week. I can't believe how many people we know are going to be in europe at the same time as us. It's so incredible and so exciting. It'll be the best to catch up with people over there and feel safer and better equipped to have fun. I'm bursting with excitement about the trip though, it'll be so great to have my two best friends with me just taking on stuff and meeting new people and doing stupid things, and being so incredibly weird as we are here.

I do not want to work this afternoon one little bit, everybody who has ever heard my voice when I run out of voice will be aware of how horrific I sound right now, the elderly people of highton will be running for their LIVES.

Tdog signing off.

carrie wisdom

Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.

this modern love, breaks me!

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.

-Mark Twain

This has been a brilliant week! Finishing exams, working, Andre Reiu, lunch date at bended, late night shopping, finding jeans, work, Luke's house for a barbecue, going away party, sick sick sick sunday morning, barking dog session, family dinner/balderdash, DAY OFF.

Andre- Oh my. So magical, there were ballerinas, ice skating debutantes, a carriage with a princess being pulled along by six beautiful white horses, a 200 piece bagpipe band, an angel from the roof, the most magnificent red dress I've ever seen, elderly couples & young girls dancing through the aisles, free spirits gliding around waltzing by themselves, a five story castle with two incredible fountains on either side. Adopted sister & I waltzed through the aisles, much to the terror and dismay of our height-fearing parents. Shea's dad was quoted saying Andre is like the wiggles for the elderly, and I just found this on a review "It's a bit like a highly sophisticated version of the Wiggles: constant action, variety, humour ? and all great fun. The audience came so disposed to enjoy themselves that many gave a standing ovation after the opening item (and regularly thereafter)."

So, Ha! They performed Bolero, Blue Danube, Voices of Spring, Waltzing Matilda, the Neighbours theme song, Bananas in Pyjamas, Advance Australia Fair, Home amongst the Gum Trees, From Botany Bay, Tie me Kangaroo Down, Amazing Grace, Nessun Dorma, My heart will go on. I'm such a geek, it was so beautiful though. Secret Telstra-Dome card to get down to the car park, James Bond-car and chats to Irish Sister with adopted sister with me the whole time, Bong smoking van drivers blowing kisses to us in the back, amazing lightening show, and torrential rain.

The next day I got to catch up with Juddy, Steven, Pat, Dyl, Lou, Cameron at Bended for a great lunch date as I missed out on Dirty 99 night the evening before. I love these people dearly, and their company, especially at Capulet Street, always puts me in fine form.

Then I lurked around town, got a credit card, ran into fine company to hang with, saw a scrag fight in dimmeys, went home, hung with the best parents ever, then chloe/jarra/ash/angel/luke got me and we hung out shopping and chloe bought a dress and she looked like a princess. I hadn't seen angel for what felt like forever, and we feasted on delicious milkshakes.

Saturday working was fun, but Saturday night was so fun. It had been a long time since I had drank, so I decided to let loose, and as well as letting loose, I got loose. It was so brilliant to have so many people we love in the same room, crazy busy and difficult to have a conversation, but totally worth it. One person really made me mad, but I've decided that if he hasn't made the effort to make amends by now, he couldn't have been a good friend of mine in the first place, and not worth the trouble, as this blog's main Twain man would say:

"When we think of friends, and call their faces out of the shadows, and their voices out of the echoes that faint along the corridors of memory, and do it without knowing why save that we love to do it, we content ourselves that that friendship is a Reality, and not a Fancy--that it is builded upon a rock, and not upon the sands that dissolve away with the ebbing tides and carry their monuments with them."
- Letter to Mary Mason Fairbanks

The best friends I've got have been there for me this year, and actually there for me, not just telling me I'm their friend or that I'm special whilst under the influence.

Barking Dog sunday was fun, considering I couldn't stand up for more than five minutes on Sunday morning, I was very lucky to make it even for a few hours, nice to have chats to people I hadn't seen in a while. It's a great idea, and I hope to go soon before we go to EUROPE !

Bloc Party on this Thursday night, and I just found a set list from a recent concert that went,
Hunting For Witches / Positive Tension / Blue Light / Trojan Horse / Song For Clay (Disappear Here) / Banquet / Letter To My Son / Talons / Mercury / This Modern Love / The Prayer / Like Eating Glass/ Ares / Ion Square / Flux / Helicopter/ Price Of Gasoline / She's Hearing Voices.

I'll be a bit gutted if they don't play so here we are this year, but I did see it last year, so I shan't be too sad. And better than Heaven, oh my! I love bloc party so dearly that I feel so sick in the tummy, and so excited to see them I can't control it. It's going to be loads of fun with Shea & Chloe.

I was just reminded of this quote off School of Rock ."I have been touched by your kids... and I'm pretty sure that I've touched them." Haha it really does make me laugh so much.

Twain was such a clever man, who really created his own character, and stood by his beliefs, was always honest and upfront about things he cared about, and I really admire that.

Besides the lack of car (!!), life is wonderful and perfect as it is right at this moment.

One must keep one's character. Earn a character first if you can, and if you can't, then assume one. From the code of moals I have been following and revising and revising for 72 years I remember one detail. All my life I have been honest--comparatively honest. I could never use money I had not made honestly--I could only lend it- Twain 1907

Tess- off to walk to the video shop to get Sex & the City for Mum & I to watch as we are trapped, trapped, trapped in a nutshell in our own house.

andre the giant

As a (not-so) closet classical music fan, I am so excited that my favourite Andre Rieu is in town. Dad's new office is at Telstra Dome so he's watching the construction of the stage and listening to rehearsals etc, I'm seething with jealousy, but if i can get tickets SOMEHOW my life will be complete. Not really, i'd have to see Radiohead for that to be the case and probably the Boosh live and meet Katie Holmes and live at the creek but still, it'd be well on the way.

<---- There would be some serious panty-throwing antics from that crowd. That will be my partners in dancing and rejoicing if i can go. Imagine the fun! Out of this world.

It's two hours until my exam and I am feeling fine. Did you know that aboriginal/torres strait islander soldiers in World War Two only got paid one third of white soldier's wages? Or that in the 1920s/30s Australia borrowed 200,000 people and 230 million pounds from the British Government?? Or that 300,000 people were out of work in the middle of the Great Depression in Australia. Or that one of the main founders of the UN and writers of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was Australian cool-cat Herbert Evatt? Or in regards to the mythical/legendary Simpson & the Donkey story, Simpson himself was actually an Englishman who joined the Australian Army to get back at Britain and actually died within 48 hours of landing at Gallipoli so really had no possible way of doing the deeds he is so famous for?

It's funny with things like that, there are bronze statues, books and memorials dedicated to Simpson without any historical evidence that he did the things he's claimed to have done. There was actually a number of men who went to the frontline and rescued injured soldiers on donkeys, but the legend has it at one person. I wonder if it's so that young Australians can look at a single figure as an under-dog, with proper qualities that make him an 'Aussie'. It's interesting I suppose to think that although most people know the truth, they still perpertrate the myth because it's fun to believe in one person coming from nothing to become a true hero. I suppose it's nice in a way, and not necessary to prove wrong etc.

I just realised that for anyone except myself, this post is full of classical music and trivia about the World Wars and would probably make some readers feel nauseas. But it's way too interesting to me. Let's get started on religion... kidding!

Off to exam. T

5:15pm update- Exam completed! And with confidence. AND BEST NEWS EVER- my wonderful dad got us tickets to Andre my love tomorrow night, and apparently during rehearsal six white horses were released onto Telstra Dome. Oh yeah baby.

positive tension

I feel so okay about tomorrow's exam now. I read over the questions and all of them are things I am capable of answering, so it's nice to go into an exam feeling okay in contrast to last week where I felt like Armstrong-vomatron was rearing her ugly head again.

I just re-discovered a photo of myself at the Singapore zoo with an orangutan, it is great to look back on, and only gets me more excited (if possible) about the things I'll be doing overseas this time around. It was just so cool to wake up in a completely new country, surrounded by people I didn't know who went about their business, and I was just there as an observer.

All of my many 'gangs' have so many nicknames for the characters that come in and out of our lies I figured I should share them in this blog, so that I don't forget them. Here goes:

Frederick, Babealicious, Hotboy, Uncle JJ, CD, Ted, Wheels, MikeDreamy, Glen aka Hazard, the Neopolitana, Backpack, Glidey, Watchdog, Laptop, Starey, Mouldy, Doctor, Doctor's girlfriend, Meatloaf, Skivvy chick, PayPacket, Briggs, Botox Nan, Dolly Parton Gran, Gold Goast Gramps, Puff grand-daddy, Big Strong man (shudder), Sherlock Holmes, Oyster Trench, MANDY S (Jesus), Vietnacopiese, Sweaty Goliath, Caveman, Lovejunk, Preppy Boy, Dreads, Wolverine, The Triplets, Spookey Bec, Dunce, Kurt Cobain, Corner-Bitch aka LooLoo, Noddy, Carbs, Jenae, the Juggler, Sultan...

To be fair, there's probably more but they were the ones that were jotted down in my mystical red journal.

There are so many things to look forward to in the next few weeks
1) Spice Cottage and movies tomorrow night
2) Buying a pair of pants to keep me warm in Europe
3) Back to the Future night at 99 on thursday
4) Our going away party on Saturday night (!!)
5) BLOC PARTY NEXT THURSDAY. I'll be a mess I just know it like last year when I saw them it's taken me approx. 12 months to recover and act like a normal human being and in that time i've seen many many other bands, but nothing has compared. Hurrah!
6) Working loads, making dosh & enjoying the last couple of weeks in the company of another!

"I don't have any allegiance to an organized religion; I have an allegiance to the gifts that I find for myself in those religions... I'd rather be non-denominational, except for music. I prefer to learn everything through music. If you want divinity, the music in every human being and their love for music is pretty much it. It's the big indication of their spirituality and their ability to love and make love, or feel pain or joy, and really manifest it, really be real. But I don't believe in a big guy with a beard on a throne, telling us that we're bad; I certainly don't believe in original sin. I believe in the opposite of that: you have an Eden immediately from the time you are born, but as you are conditioned by your caretakers and your surroundings, you may lose that original thing. Your task is to get back to it, to claim responsibility for your own perfection.

tuesday, wednesday- heart attack!

Currently listening to : libertines - don't look back into the sun
Currently avoiding: studying my history exam
Currently wishing i had: a money tree

http://www.bored.com/shotgunguide/

That's for chloe, who had the awful experience of somebody disregarding the shotty-front rule, which is just not on, if anybody is in doubt of the rules or in need of clarification, that should definately help you out.

After a week of non stop working, i now have panic-style attacking with the realisation that my history exam is on Wednesday. Turns out, there's a lot to learn about Australian and the two World Wars, who would have thought?! But instead for this evening I think i will unwind, watch the Rich List and look for myself in the audience, make some dinner, start working on some playlists for the radio show and do some reading for history. I'll get up (i hope) really early tomorrow and figure something out then.

My workmate on Saturday told me that my eternal happiness drives him insane, which only 1) made me happier and laugh a lot because it was really typical, and 2) made me mad because I can't understand why people get cross with people looking at the world in an optimistic way, and are always trying to bring me down and 'teach' me that life isn't that great. That just really gets my goat. Like on scrubs when Dr. Cox and Kelso try so hard to teach Molly that humans are ultimately bad. It's not naive to choose to see the good in situations and people, it's just a smarter and better way to live. Just accepting that the world is a terrible place full of people with horrible characteristics and bad occurences will only lead people to wallow in their own misery, and is just an excuse for bad behaviour and not making an effort. It's just better to accept that although bad things do happen, with a bit of optimisim and an attempt to find laughs and fun, life is actually brilliant. That's my way to go anyway. Molly was so great.

A mother-hen style shout out to chloe & angel, in the past two days you have been making brilliant desicions that will ultimately work out for you if you stick to your guns. Proud azz!

The new bagraiders song turbo love is not my usual style but it just gets me going, it's just brilliant.

As I am getting over the sales of stamps, and the requests for 5c stamps, 50c stamps (stop living in the past people...) and the buying of stamps as it seems unnecessary, this would be a fun way to go....

On my return from europe I will save up and buy either the guitar featured OR a fender strat in cherry red. Probably a les paul though, they're so gorgeous.

I'm out! :)

launching blog in five, four, three, two, one...

Hello! I've started this due to encouragement from chloe. Her blog is so intriguing and always interesting. I figure if I'm going to go into the media, I should get used to/begin to enjoy people knowing what I'm thinking, and I suppose if anyone were to ask me what I thought about a topic, I always try and be upfront and honest, because there's no real point in shying away from your opinions because people are smarter and always realise what you're about anyway. In saying that, I don't actually have that much to say in this blog except:

a) GO OBAMA- just so cool.

b) I'm travelling to Europe with my two best friends in 25 days, and will finally get to see my sister!

c) I only have one more exam (history: australia & the two world wars) left until my second year of uni is over, which is BIZARRE. It has flown past, and next year will be my last and then it is no more essays/assignments/group tasks/caf meetings/bbar lunches/uni characters/bunkers or uni gangs for me. Sad really, i love uni.

d) Despite getting off to a rocky start, this has been the best year of my life. With Europe at the end of it, things are only looking up. My family has gone through mad big changes but still look at everything from the bright side and with a great sense of humour (spurred on by sunday night boardgames & dinner), I have two best friends in angel & chloe who are absolutely brilliant and are the reason this year has been the best, i've made the most interesting new friends, met someone who is brilliant and comforting and funny and who i will be sad to see go, branched out of my comfort zone, lived my life independently and figured out/gotten to like myself

e) Rory & I have/are cooked/cooking up the greatest recipe for a radio program, and I am bursting from the seams with excitement to get stuck right into it.

f) Working casually at the newsagents lets me talk to about 1000 new people whenever I am there (without counting regulars), it is so much fun and I have no idea why I enjoy it so much, but I am thankful that I do

g) We lost soccer however both The Ducks and The Sharpies are the best teams to have graced BVAC with their presence!

These things made me laugh a lot today:
WORD OF THE DAY: Hipatitis- Terminal coolness.

Shout out to dad:
Photobucket

And the photo makes me want to go to Africa and see cool characters like that. Being the amazing uni student that I am, I will reference! Joel Sartore took it for national geographic.

Off to watch scrubs, with tea & dark chocolate now- tess :)
