Really?!

Really?! Really life? Is it okay that a festival of this wonder is happening in three weeks, and I'm not there, nor am I going, or would be capable of going. Best music festival in the world has lived up to its reputation.

ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, Blur, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Madness, Tom Jones, Status Quo, Prodigy, Bon Iver, Neil Young, Lily Allen, Fleet Foxes, Bloc Party, LadyHawke, Friendly Fires, White Lies, The Rakes, The Streets, Rolf Harris, Animal Collective, The Horrors, Crookers, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Kasabian, Seun Kuti and Fela's Egypt 80, Crosby Stills & Nash, Dizzee Rascal, Spinal Tap, Franz Ferdinand, Paolo Nutini, Pete Doherty, Peter, Bjorn and John, Gaslight Anthem, The Temper Trap, Jamie Cullum, Wombats, 2ManyDJs, Cold War Kids, Peaches.

As Kyle so nicely put it "It's like my ipod has come to life."

LAME. That would be the most fun, however I cannot complain that my own little narrative is going badly because it's not. Things are awesome.

I've spent the whole week getting completely motivated about life in general, this age and making the most of stuff. People go through much much worse than what I'm going through, and dealing with emotions and love and sadness and stress and anxiety and self esteem is all part of growing up which I clearly will never stop doing. People will always be growing and learning, and if I dwell for too long on feeling lonely or wanting something to happen, nothing will happen and I will turn back and realise I wasted so much time wanting, and not enough time DOING. I know what I'm about, what I like and what I'm not really into, I have awesome jam packed weeks and I'm busy all the time but I wouldn't have things any other way.

Feeling absolutely fantastic, new music, new people popping in and out, catching up with people after a while, next week after the rush of assignments I will be finished uni for the semester no exams and the chance to make a stack of money and head to brisbane to see some of our favourite people. Things couldn't get much better... unless "knock. knock"

Tess signing out with severe pangs of disappointment that she's not on the way to the glastonbury festival.

i have two colours in my head.

Freedom, clean slate, new job, confidence boosting journalism marks, fit fit, meeting new people, parties, comfortable but not in a rut, soon to be new hair which will be a totally new look! This year will be an interesting one in terms of that I don't know where I'll be location wise or personally throughout it or at the end of it. Last year was a year of fun and moving on to a new part of my life in which I'm a lone ranger and independent rather than an extension of anyone else's life and this year will hopefully be an extension of that, where I have the rare chance to be selfish myself and now that I've altered my mind set about that, it is pretty damn cool.

Hello to accessories for 70% off, I'm so there. Hello to nerd, bed, comfy day. Hello to sunday night games.

In Limbo

Lundy, Fastnet, Irish Sea
I got a message I can't read
Another message I can't read

Being the first in the Irish Sea
I got a message I can't read
Another message I can't read

I'm on your side
Nowhere to hide
Trapdoors that open
I spiral down

You're living in a fantasy world
You're living in a fantasy world

I'm lost at sea
Don't bother me
I've lost my way
I've lost my way

You're living in a fantasy world
You're living in a fantasy world
You're living in a fantasy world
This beautiful world

I got a message I can't read
Another message I can't read

Oh yeah, baby.

Today was SO good. I had so much fun this morning at the job, and came out with already much more experience, constructive criticism about how to best work my voice, meeting new people and learning new things about what goes on in our town, and clarification that I am most definitely on the right track. Yes! Then uni, then wii, then cooking, then quizzing, then a show about the economic crisis and how my main man Barack could fix it.

The list: Geoffrey Rush, Will Smith, Barack & Michelle Obama, Audrey Hepburn, Michael J Fox, Muhamed Ali, Shaun Micalef, Nick Cave.

Obama's so cool, but has the worst situation to kick start off. This could be wonderful in that if he really can turn it around and bring the country back from the brink of failure. However the Republicans acted so incredibly selfishly and irresponsibly, and Bush did not listen to any of the advice he was given in regards to the amount of money spent on the War and Health Care that the country literally has no money at all. So how does the coolest person in the world fix the problem in the world that risks everything for everybody else?! Go the good thing though.

He worked in Baskin Robbins, he lived in Indonesia with a pet ape, he loves scrabble, he gave the queen an iPod with musical songs on it, he's won a grammy award, written a book, his dad was an athiest yet he's come to his own opinions. Cool as.

You can only hope that you go about your own life, your own career and your own day to day existance with a similar amount of honesty and respect and enthusiasm.

Did you know that Jimi Hendrix was thrown out of high school for holding the hand of a white girl in class? And that Eric Clapton was born to an unwed mother so to shield him from the shame, he grew up believing that his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his sister.

fee fi fo fum

TALK. To me.

Top Five Reasons I feel fiiine today!

1. My friends are too good, checking the thread for updates about our ever exciting lives, hanging out for cups of tea, playing wii, getting through uni, saturday night lives.

2. I'm assignment/presentation free for a few weeks

3. I start a new and super exciting job in the morning.

4. I have a new laptop and a nintendo wii to fill in the time when I'm home sweet home

5. I have three books lined up to read, and no uni reading to intefere with them

Hearing many problems of late and so many of them come down to communication errors. People need to learn how to communicate better, or communicate full stop. You don't need to communicate with people you don't think are worth your time, toxic people, who needs them? So you just concentrate your energies on people you want to see and want to talk to, and that have mutual respect for you and will contact you and make an effort. I'm surrounded by these people, so who could complain?

Independence

It's strange how a situation comes about and you just assume. You just assume things will swing a certain way. It is really difficult to change your mindset once you have already plotted out these situations in your head. However it's really important when you are faced with underwhelming and different circumstances to accept that's just how life goes.

Things don't always turn out the way you had hoped, people change, feelings fade and you just have to go on with your own stuff. You have to keep developing your own life, your own friends, your own family, filling in your time and then anything or anyone that comes into your life is just a bonus to the great stuff you've already got. I'm a lucky person to be surrounded by simply awesome people to hang out, to play soccer with and eat indian with, to hang out at uni with, to plan trips with, to have uni dates with, to have panache and third wheel with, to work with, to go to the footy with, to go to gigs with, to dance with when out, to reminice with, to have cups of tea with and complain about the lack of Edward Cullens that actually exist, to make fondue men and eat their face. I'm surrounded by perfect human beings, who each don't think they're perfect, but are perfect to me and for me.

Home alone with red wine, greys anatomy, some dark chocolate, ladybird socks, clean and fresh. Mum and Dad away celebrating 30 years of marriage. Very proud, I've been brought up in an environment where I know people really can be happy. You can have issues but you can be happy long term, you just have to accept that you might not have found the right person yet, you might not find the right person, but it's possible. It's good to have gone through experiences where you really get comfortable with someone, and then it's changed, your friendship group needs to change, you lose your extended family and your lifestyle. But on the flip side, when your priorities change, you get the chance to think about yourself. You can stop putting others before you all the time, think about where you're headed, what you're about and figure out your place in this thing. I'm fine with the way things are, I'm used to my own company and my own life. This is the base block so anything else that is thrown my way I'll be pretty keen to deal with it and manouvre it into my life somehow.

You are a little mystery to me
Every time you come around.

Haïti, never free

A million of your friends are now fans of Not Being On Fire.

Seriously people?! Do we need to state our every single thought and like and what we hope won't happen in the future? Hahaha it's ridiculous. Fan sites are like a cancer growing unnecessarily and unexpectedly all over facespace.

Lately, there's been a lot of random add-age, but not particularly random which is even almost worse. People that I've heard of and know by face, but don't know in reality, or have never met. And often I take a chance and add them and leave them a comment or something, and there's no communications? I just don't get that, in reality it is a perfect chance to make a friend or at least learn something new about someone. It's a social networking website, about better-ing communications which is some ways it does really well as it's easy to talk to people about nerve wracking things via it. But if people add you that wouldn't say Hi on the street, then you're not making any type of relationship so it's a pointless portal of communication if you aren't planning on using it. It does make spying on people's lives a lot easier though...

Hello 94.7, Tess speaking. I have made a ridiculous amount of lists this week of things I need to remember to do, and set my alarm early so I can fit all of this stuff into my life. I think I just need to relax. I'm trying to avoid thinking in general terms about how I feel and whether these feelings have changed over time or whether I'm confused and just looking to fill in a bit of a void or what. I don't know, but every minute of every day is filled in doing SOMETHING. The daily jigsaw puzzle for example. I wish I could be comfortable doing nothing at all, but I really cannot do that. It just does my head in, and I think about all the other things I really should be doing with my time. It's spare time though, it's meant to be for doing nothing!

Oh life is so interesting and fun and our own personal drama show that we can alter. Pretty cool, incredibly frustrating, tears come for no reason and you learn a new moral about life after each episode!

could you make me happy?

I'm a nervous nelly about the meeting today, but this is the best possible step for me to actually do something with myself. There's nothing worse than sitting about just sailing through waiting for things to happen to you. So this will be good, it'll be the project I've been waiting for to come along and something to occupy any spare time I have which is GOOD.

Every now and then
I get a little too close
To a kind of truth that’s not worth thinking about

But you can’t stop the mind from wandering
You’ve gotta slow it down
Maybe get yourself under control

And it’s hard to stop the pondering
And there have been points when
I feel like I’ve been on a roll

But then those curtains get drawn
And the chances that you thought you had
They really come to nothing at all

And I have no need
For such things
But to make you happy
Does it make you happy?

And I’ve busted strings on this guitar
Makes me feel like I’m getting nowhere
Could you make me happy?

And if you keep me on your right
Could I keep you on my left?

And there’s a question on your lips
On your finger tips
Stabbing in the dark
Like you’re cut, cut,
Cutting your fringe back
But it’s grown out at such an angle
That the shears aren’t sharp
You’ve got to straight, straight,
Straighten the blades up

And if I could make it easier
I would always try to make it easier

But to be a cautious operator
Is the way to
Stop this falling apart

YES

Yes! I don't think misery does love company, I think once you get to a point of proper sadsack-ness, something always happens to give you a fork in the road for your thoughts. You could choose to continue to wallow which is easier and makes you feel better about your thoughts as it gives them reassurance, however you could take the positive and go down a whole new road of greatness.

Last night after finally finishing the wretched essay I got the best email about an opportunity i'd completely forgotten about, and with patience and sticking at it, we finally got the reply we want, a meeting on Tuesday morning, and a PROJECT. Which is exactly what I need. Today I did all my official type jobs with the banking and stuff, hung out with Brige, had a great big long drive which was well needed, had photos printed and am going out with the "A team" for a chocolate room date. Life is really going wonderfully as it is. I should appreciate what I have right now, which I've never had as good as I do now, and enjoy all the stuff that comes along with this, rather than thinking about anything else. Get your life together and get your project started and yourself on the right track for once stop overthinking things that may not even matter in six months or a years time, whereas where I'm going with a career and my interests WILL still matter.

No more before 9am drop offs of assignments, I'm too too tired.
