Parade around down town

Listening to a lot of beach boys and having visions of road trips and romance. Ahh. Still Cruisin' is an exceptional song.

I had a wonderful weekend, have copius dates with all sorts of people this week and am busy being a social butterfly, a little bit of work and a lot of play. New hair new purchases, oh lovely. Brisbane disciples reunion (minus chloe) next week will be brilliant, and I cannot wait to be getting on a plane and going SOMEWHERE. Oh joy!

Enjoy the beach boys people, and have a wonderful night.

So come on let's cruise ya got nothin' to lose
So come on let's cruise ya got nothin' to lose
So come on

Now get yourself in gear
Oh baby come on
Still cruisin' after all of these years
Hey girl let's go for a spin
Hop in my hot rod and do it again

You've got a greenhouse effect on me
I know a secret spot
Paradise by the sea
We'll find a place to park
That's kinda cool after dark

We'll take a trip on up to the lake
Down by the river
Where we can make out
On the island

Wake up on the cape
Punch up yor favorite staion
Toss in your favorite tape
When we go cruisin'
Well everything is all right

Come on let's cruise ya got nothin' to lose
Baby when we go cruisin' now

Baby put your top down
Parade around down town
People trying to cool down
Party all summer long

Come on let's cruise ya got nothin' to lose
So come on let's cruise ya got nothin' to lose
Baby come on

Now get yourself in gear
Baby baby come on
Still cruisin' after all of these years

Everybody got a favorite spot
Where they like to come a lot

When we go cruisin' Well everything is all right

Come on let's cruise ya got nothin' to lose
Baby when we go crusin' now

People dancin' in the sand
Rockin' to a reggae band
Lovers walkin' hand in hand
Party all summer long

Come on let's cruise ya got nothin' to lose

Peppermint tea, sims. Baby, come on.

Life is for the living!

Everything is going just swell. The pendulum of happiness is swinging on the happy side! I have the greatest of friends, a fun casual job, i'm on holidays, I am ridiculously happy at home with my family, I'll be happy again in a few weeks when I'm back at uni anyway, heading to Brisbane, huge possibilities happening at the station after taking a step towards being someone and I'm actually learning how to sleep! The last couple of days have been wow-ee moments as Aldog would say. And with an op shop formal party, house warmings, 30ths, interstate trip, lots more work experience, money money, waynes world night, apollo bay and lots of hanging out, there shall be wow-ee moments plentiful in the next few weeks as well.

It's strange I have admiration type crushes on certain people. I don't know them? But they're just people that I like, that have done very well for themselves and that I'd be spiffed to meet. They strike a chord with me, their music does or their values do. The polaroid images come from www.portroids.com which is a brilliant photography project that's been going on for years which is a mixture of average joes and "somebodys" who must sign their polaroid before it's been developed. Check it out :)

Helena Bonham Carter- Brigette & I's crush and future friend. She and partner Tim Burton did a photoshoot for Vera Wang which is where the cool Corpse Bride-esque shot comes from. Wow they'd be a great couple to third wheel.

A bit of a relapse into some sadsack form and some nasty habits have shaken me into concentrating on making something of myself and my youth! It's something I think I have taken for granted, as everybody does, and through speaking with so many eldery people all the time, their best memories are always of the things they did when they were young. All of the things I worry about are challenges I will have to face in the future regardless of choices I make now so I just have to stop living in the future and start living in the now. Life is for the living as Greg said on air yesterday and it's never been more true.

How many times have you heard someone say
If I had his money I'd do things my way
Hmm, but little they know
Hmm, it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten with a satisfied mind.

Hmm, once I was wadding in fortune and fame
Everything that I dreamed of to get a start in lifes game
But suddenly it happened
Hmm, I lost every dime
But I'm richer by far with a satisfied mind.

Hmm, when my life is over and my time has run out
My friends and my love ones
I'll leave there ain't no doubt
But one thing for certain
When it comes my time
I'll leave this old world with a satisfied mind.

This just in... go to hell.

I love Kent Brockman, what an inspiration to all budding television journalists ( ha ha)

Tame Impala's new song is brilliant, it's called Sundown Syndrome check it out at their myspace http://www.myspace.com/tameimpala

Also if you don't already listen to them on a regular basis please do so with the Friendly Fires, they are rockin. I'm so over being sick, although it is a conversation starter at my work with all the customers. Despite illness work is fun as usual. One told me I looked lovely even though I clearly didn't sound it ha, an old man said I had a pretty face (thanks champ), I chatted Europe for ages with one fella about how this cold is NOTHING compared to the european winters which is true, found out one customer is a wildlife photographer in Africa and next year South America and realised one old man is an ex-adventurer and has had the COOLEST existance. Beautiful old scottish lady and I had the same conversation we have every week, "Hello, How are you?", "Oh love... I'm pretty good for an old duck." "That's good!" "Gotta just put my feet on the floor and then I'm right for someone over the big Eight Zero" "Well you're doing VERY well for yourself."

Love it. Everybody has a story! After this health issue leaves my system however all the gang will be finished exams and we will be having non stop, ridiculous amounts of fun. I will be visiting the disciples, keeping at it with the work experience and actually earning money. It'll be a sweeeet couple of months.

I just want to cuddle and protect Moss here from the bullies he's so hilariously awkward, and his crying is like mine last week so I can laugh AND relate, bonus!

"Dem glassez is shit iznt it!?"

Heartbeat

Tess is a fan of semester one being over. What a week. Far out, I couldn't get out of bed this morning, but for the first time in a long while I did not have to. From the Pulse to uni to the newsagents to being up until 2 every morning and awake at 7 to finish ridiculous amounts of assignments I should always have done earlier to an evil wench of a woman crushing my confidence. Not one of my finest hours (or seven days worth of hours).

It's strange that people feel they have the right to make cruel and unnecessary judgements of people they don't know the first thing about. What. A bitter, old woman morphed into all of my weak spots. I suppose it was good in a way as I had a lot of tension from the last few months that I hadn't dealt with or worried about and it gave me a chance to rid myself of all that. Like Frou Frou would say LET GO. Let go, what are you waiting for? It feels good.

Four major assignments, four days, it feels so good to not have that worry, I can do whatever I want, and then one more semester and I can REALLY do whatever I want, for good! Wow.

Oh Charles Hardin (Buddy) Holly. His songs are so sweet. Proper crushes and adoring of other people and happy, fun, uncomplicated love. Oh, what a world. There are so many songs about heartbeats, it's a strange thing that this organ can make you feel a ridiculous amount of things. It can be pangs of pain or when it quickens with excitement, or when you push your body to the limits. It's an awesome (in terms of the actual definition) pink big mass of stuff.

Buddy Holly:

Heartbeat, why do you miss when my baby kisses me? Piddle dee pat - I know that new love thrills me.I know that true love will be. Heartbeat - why do you skip when my baby's lips meet mine. Sing to me love stories and bring to me love’s glories.

The Knife/Jose Gonzalez:

One night of magic rush, the start a simple touch. One night to push and scream, and then relief. Ten days of perfect tunes, the colours red & blue. We had a promise made, we were in love.

Robyn:

So I don't look back. Still I'm dying with every step I take. But I don't look back, just a little little bit better. And it hurts with every heartbeat.

So I've gone From Jose to Robyn, and I want some Buddy thoughts! It seems that at this age, that will be the adventures of most of our romantic lives. The excitement and thrill of a connection with someone, the task of getting over it and moving on and leaving that part of your life behind, and then comes the excitement of the next time you feel that way for somebody. Which is the coolest of all the three. It's all going to happen again and again, fairly funny I suppose.

New gloves, new beret, new vest, new dresses, new perspectives. Breakfast with the lovely Amy, lunch with my family and grandmother Mae who is the most remarkable person I know, then tuesday we'll get our movie on. Life's sweet.

Listening to: Damon Albarn & Scratch- Too late, very very cool song.
Reading: New Moon... I have to.
Watching: It's going to be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Really?!

Really?! Really life? Is it okay that a festival of this wonder is happening in three weeks, and I'm not there, nor am I going, or would be capable of going. Best music festival in the world has lived up to its reputation.

ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, Blur, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Madness, Tom Jones, Status Quo, Prodigy, Bon Iver, Neil Young, Lily Allen, Fleet Foxes, Bloc Party, LadyHawke, Friendly Fires, White Lies, The Rakes, The Streets, Rolf Harris, Animal Collective, The Horrors, Crookers, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Kasabian, Seun Kuti and Fela's Egypt 80, Crosby Stills & Nash, Dizzee Rascal, Spinal Tap, Franz Ferdinand, Paolo Nutini, Pete Doherty, Peter, Bjorn and John, Gaslight Anthem, The Temper Trap, Jamie Cullum, Wombats, 2ManyDJs, Cold War Kids, Peaches.

As Kyle so nicely put it "It's like my ipod has come to life."

LAME. That would be the most fun, however I cannot complain that my own little narrative is going badly because it's not. Things are awesome.

I've spent the whole week getting completely motivated about life in general, this age and making the most of stuff. People go through much much worse than what I'm going through, and dealing with emotions and love and sadness and stress and anxiety and self esteem is all part of growing up which I clearly will never stop doing. People will always be growing and learning, and if I dwell for too long on feeling lonely or wanting something to happen, nothing will happen and I will turn back and realise I wasted so much time wanting, and not enough time DOING. I know what I'm about, what I like and what I'm not really into, I have awesome jam packed weeks and I'm busy all the time but I wouldn't have things any other way.

Feeling absolutely fantastic, new music, new people popping in and out, catching up with people after a while, next week after the rush of assignments I will be finished uni for the semester no exams and the chance to make a stack of money and head to brisbane to see some of our favourite people. Things couldn't get much better... unless "knock. knock"

Tess signing out with severe pangs of disappointment that she's not on the way to the glastonbury festival.
